AutomaticGenerally these are automated sliding doors. They usually form part of the emergency escape route and are required to be to be serviced quarterly by a qualified IQP technician as part of Building Wof. |
EgressThese are usually doors at the last point of exit on an escape route. They are required to operate easily and locks must allow egress from the building. This can provide issues between safety and security requirements. We generally recommend 3 point latching panic release hardware and a minimum 12 month service. The fire engineer will advice you on safety requirements. |
Fire/Smoke StopThese doors form the safe escape path from a building. Generally their location and type is based on the number of occupants, distance from final exit, and fire and smoke cell design. Their safe operation is crucial. Where these doors are fitted with hydraulic closers and latching hardware, they must latch close in all situations. These doors are usually fitted with seals, that must be maintained. We once again suggest minimum 12 month servicing. Also you may be required to fit seals to older doors, we provide this service. Any door replacement should be the same specification as the original. |
Security DoorsGenerally these can be weak points for break in and any of the doors above can be in that category. We install metal cladding to timber doors and specialized security hardware and options.
